Describe Yourself:
If church people make you feel something between uncomfortable, and creepy-well, they affect me the same way, even though I am around them all the time. It has something to do with 50% of all who go into ministry will eventually leave the ministry with something between discouragment and extreme disappointment. Their reason for that is precisely what made Jesus angry-the insistence on putting up a false front of squeaky cleanliness, morally. One of my favorite quotes by a minister is "Keep your head out of the clouds, your feet on the ground, your zippers up and your skirts down." The reason he said that is that his ministry failed on all counts! Dr. Graham said "Christianity is not a religion...it is a personal relationship with God". We have an overwhelming tendency to insist that our connection to God have a predictable, familiar routine...moreover...that there be rungs of a ladder of heirarchy where we can try to 'one up' the next guy. Wrong, camel breath!

On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:
Individuals who understand that God is not interested in robots, or anyone dripping with earthly success or glamor. If that is what He wanted , He could just as easily have created them. He seeks, and I seek all those who understand that His dictation to Moses in Genesis is an accurate account of how we all came to be, and what went wrong, and what the plan is to fix it.
He has spelled out who He is, and who we are, and how He plans to get us back into His Kingdom. A big clue? "go along with the crowd status seekers, parroting religious phrases" annoy God. He hates it when people "fawn" on Him, he says. Once you do as He suggests, which is to stop following a deaf dumb and blind crowd, and come out from among them, and be a separate person..He will take you under His wing, and reveal things that will astound you. Curiously, the crowd you left behind will NOT want to hear a word of it! Is't that odd?
